Toddlers' Camera Men - Making Your Job A Lot Easier
Great children’s photographers will make the entire event fun for the kids and as cheerful as possible for parents. Taking a child to the photo studio and making him sit still while some stranger clicks a camera in his face is not going to get the outcome you are looking for. Photographers, who are practiced working with young ones, know that they hold a hunch on how to read adults. They can tell right away if the adult genuinely likes children or is just bearing them. If they observe the second, you may have now found the reason why your generally obedient child acts like a monster at the photographers.
If you wish to be an effective children’s photographer you have to allow the kids have fun. You have to attempt to speak to them on their level without being patronizing. You also have to understand children. It is amazing how many professional photographers will expect a kid to sit still for what looks like hours while they take on this pose or that. This is just ridiculous. When you do with kids you need to work fast. Actually you only have a couple of minutes, sometimes even less than that, to get the shot right. This doesn't permit for amateur faults. Kids get uninterested really fast and their manners will start to get worse.
In addition to working fast, you need to give them a break as soon as you observe they are getting tired. Hopefully then you can re-engage their interest and take more shots. Before you even start taking photographs of the child, the professional should have agreed with the parents the type of shots they expect and how many. Having a solid plan in mind and knowing exactly what you want to happen will help to cut short any problems. Also the better your children’s photographer communicates with you, i.e. the customer the more likely you are to realize a positive outcome.
